UPWARDS at « E-world »

The energy turnaround confronts electricity suppliers, public utilities, network operators and technology developers with new tasks that can be solved with the help of different methods of mathematics and computer science from the Fraunhofer ITWM.

Energy is one of the core topics at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM. At the « E-world energy and water » trade fair, the researchers presented current technologies and projects in the energy industry – from wind farm simulations bi shin to the marketing of flexibility via demand-side management. The fair took place from 11 to 13 February 2020 in Essen, Germany.

The objectives and recent achievements of UPWARDS project, covering the high fidelity overall system simulation of wind farm plants (models of atmospheric flows, of flow fields in the wind farm, force effects on turbine and rotor blades, as well as noise development) were discussed with numerous wind farm operators.
